Thematic Conference from the European Commission: “Partnerships for Innovation and Socio Economic Impact”
The importance of Entrepreneurial Universities in Europe has been stressed once again. On March 19-20, 2014, the European Commission DG Education and Culture organized the University-Business Thematic Forum “Partnerships for Innovation and Socio Economic Impact: The Entrepreneurial University” in cooperation with the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm, Sweden.
During this two day event, key stakeholders from business and higher education institutions discussed some of the Europe’s best practices when it comes to entrepreneurial universities. With presentations from Aalto Univeristy, Technical University Munich and Technical University Eindhoven, some of Europe’s top examples were present at this event. In addition to HEIs presentations, there were also several representatives from industry e.g. BMW, Philips and Nokia that presented on their close and succesfull cooperation with universities in Europe.
In addition to these two key stakeholders, also several policymakers from regional, national and European institutions gave their perspective on the status quo and which steps to take.
The event closed with a workshop on the European Commission’s tool to measure how entrepreneurial your HEI is. HEInnovate, is a new tool that consists out of 7 constructs that help you to evaluate your HEI in respect to entrepreneurship. The tool can be accessed via www.heinnovate.eu
