What is the UIIN Conference?
The UIIN Conference is the annual conference of the University Industry Innovation Network (UIIN), which brings together up to 1000 managers, practitioners and researchers in the field of entrepreneurial universities, collaborative innovation and university-industry interaction each year.
The 2023 conference will take place over three days in Budapest, and provide access to a wide variety of presentations and workshops as well as numerous networking opportunities to interact, share knowledge, and establish new contacts with peers from across the globe.
Where does the 2023 conference take place?
The 2023 UIIN Conference will take place at the Novotel Budapest City & Budapest Congress Center. The Congress Center is located at Alkotás u. 63-67 in Budapest.
Discounted rates for hotel rooms at the Novotel Budapest City hotel do apply for conference delegates at a rate of 146EUR per night for a single room and 159EUR for a double. Please visit this link to access the discounted rates.
Do you provide financing for travels?
The travels and accommodation for attending the conference are the responsibility of each individual attendee.
I need a visa to enter Hungary, can you help me?
Visa letters are only provided after we have received a full registration and payment of the conference fee. Please ensure you register in due time to allow sufficient time for yourself to acquire a visa. Once you have registered please send an email to [email protected] to request a visa invitation letter. In order for us to provide you with an invitation letter for the conference, please send us your:
- Full name
- Date of birth
- Nationality
- Passport number
- Employer’s name and
- Department
Who can attend the event?
Anyone with a valid ticket is welcome from anywhere around the world.

How do I register?
Super Early-Bird Tickets start selling on November 7th. Please keep an eye on uiin.org/conference or register your interest here to receive a notification when the registration opens.
Can I order my ticket and pay for it later?
Yes, you can order your ticket and pay for it later by credit card or invoice. When registering for the event, you will have 3 weeks to complete your registration before your ticket gets cancelled.
Can I transfer my ticket to another person?
Yes, you can. A substitute delegate from your organisation is welcome at no extra charge. Your request has to be made via e-mail before April 20th 2023, in writing to: [email protected]
What is the refund policy if I cannot attend the 2023 UIIN Conference?
Cancellations made by March 1st 2023, will be fully refunded minus a EUR 50.00 administration fee. Cancellations after March 1st but before April 10th will be refunded to 50% of the original ticket price. Cancellations after April 10th are non-refundable.
In case you are unable to attend the event, a substitute delegate from your organisation is welcome at no extra charge. Your request has to be made via e-mail before April 20th 2023, in writing to: [email protected]
Any bank or credit card charges resulting from a registration cancellation are for the registrants account.
What does the differentiation between Organisational Member & Non-member mean regarding the registration fees?
UIIN Is an international network that brings together a diverse community of university and industry professionals. Participants with an Organisational Membership plan receive a discount to our events. If you do not have an active UIIN Membership, you can still participate in our events through purchasing a regular non-member ticket.
Check out the UIIN Community page to find out if your institution is an Organisational Member. If so, all employees of the organisation can benefit from the member discounts. Please contact your organisation’s account holder to be added to the account and have your member discounts automatically applied.

Are there any discounts or reduced registration fees?
Yes, you can benefit from reduced fees in our Super Early-Bird (until December 31st) and Early-Bird (until February 10th) registration periods or register for a UIIN membership to enjoy individual or organisational member discounts.
Are there any discounts or reduced registration fees for those selected as speakers?
The Conference does not offer additional discounts for speakers. However, our participants can benefit from the reduced fees in our Early-Bird registration periods or register for a UIIN membership to benefit from member discounts.
Why am I being charged with VAT on my conference ticket?
Within most of Europe’s VAT regulations, including the Hungarian, events are taxed in the country within which they take place. Therefore your invoice will include 27% Hungarian VAT. You can reclaim this through (1) your own national tax authorities, (2) the Hungarian tax authorities or (3) by using an external service provider. Please note that UIIN is unable to provide tax advice or support for you in this matter.
I am a speaker, is there a deadline for my registration?
Yes, there is. The registration deadline for accepted speakers is March 1st. Only accepted presenters who complete their registration before March 1st 2023 will be included in the programme.
I am not a speaker, but I want to attend the conference. When is the deadline for my registration?
If you are not a speaker, you registration can be processed up to 1 day before the commencement of the conference. However, it is advisable to process your registration with time in advance to avoid the complications with your accommodation and travelling arrangements.
I would like to present at the conference, where do I submit my proposal?
You can submit your abstract / proposal to present until December 19th, 2022 at the following page: uiin.org/conference/abstract-submission/
I have submitted my abstract for the conference. How will I learn about the results?
All abstract authors will receive an email notification if their submissions are accepted or rejected within 6 weeks after the submission deadline.
Are the contributions published after the conference?
Yes. Following the Conference, accepted and presented academic and practitioner papers are published in the Conference Proceedings with an ISBN number. We also publish a Good Practice Book that collects all Good Practice Studies (GPS) submitted and presented at the Conference, as well as Next Practice Series (NPS), as a collection of posters presented at the Conference. All proceedings will be accessible in the UIIN online store and for UIIN members accessible free of charge in the members area.
Is it mandatory to submit a full paper for the Conference Proceedings?
Submission of a full paper is not mandatory. If your abstract is selected, you will receive an email instructing you on the submission of the full paper. If you decide not to submit the full paper, you can still participate in the Conference if you are registered. However, in this case your paper will not be published in Conference Proceedings.
