UIIN Conferences and Workshops

Knowledge sharing, building new relationships and discovering solutions are the core elements of our events. UIIN organizes large scale conferences, with more than 400+ participants from 60+ countries, bringing together university managers, researchers and practitioners to shape the future of university-industry interaction. Besides its annual conference UIIN also organize conferences on specific themes and on other continents than Europe. In addition, through its executive education program it provides individuals with specific training on the entrepreneurial mindset, entrepreneurial universities and university-business cooperation.

Organisational Change in Higher Education

How do you make change happen? This is currently a key question in many higher education institutions, since they are challenged to redefine their institutional responsibilities, purpose, and way of working. This workshop introduces you to behavioural science type approaches (or casually called ‘Nudge’) that are increasingly being used for effective policy making in a number of countries, including the United States, Canada, Singapore, Australia, and many countries in Europe.

With an ever-greater shift towards educating more entrepreneurial and innovative students and practicing academic entrepreneurship, universities need more entrepreneurial leaders. This workshop explored the challenges of leading in Higher Education. 2017 University-Industry Interaction Conference

In 2017, the three day event redefined UIIN conference experience all over again. From the 7th to 9th of June, 2017, more than 450 university leaders, practitioners, CEOs, policymakers and academics visited Europe’s hub for technology start-ups and home to the European HQ of, amongst others, Facebook, Google, Airbnb, PayPal and Apple. They were exposed to good practices and experiences of over 100 different organisations, learned from the worlds renowned academic experts in the field and communicated with some of the leading institutions on how to drive growth in your home region.

2017 Asia-Pacific University-Industry Engagement Conference

UIIN has taken its successful conference series to Adelaide, Australia and brought together university managers, researchers, policymakers and innovation and entrepreneurship managers from all across the globe. This three day conference provided access to insights into the Australian Higher Education ecosystem. Participants received insights into Australia's Innovation Districts, entrepreneurship centres, regional university-business collaboration ecosystems and much more. Through a mixture of practical workshops, scientific presentations as well as sharing knowledge by practitioners the conference was a platform for sharing experience, networking and interacting with peers from around the world.

2016 University-Industry Interaction Conference

With 412 participants from 61 countries, this year's conference even exceeded the participant numbers from our 2015 Berlin Conference. The conference brought together university managers, researchers, lecturers, representatives from business and government. With speakers from Konica Minolta, Aalto, Imperial COllege, and DSM the discussion panels provided insights from both universities as well as business.

2015 University-Industry Interaction Conference

From June 24 to June 26 2015, the 2015 University-Industry Interaction Conference brought together more than 350 participants from all over the world to share knowledge, interact and build new co-operations. During this 3 day event, Higher Education managers, researchers and lecturers in innovation and entrepreneurship and many other experts on university-industry interaction shared and discussed information on the current challenges and solutions faced by today's higher education institutions.

With keynotes from Scott Shane (Author of the bestseller "Illusions of Entrepreneurship") and John Bessant (author of the teaching, learning and practice bible "Managing Innovation") as well as a discussion panel and presentations from representatives from SIEMENS, Volkswagen and Henkel, the event provided perspectives from both higher education and industry.

2014 Good Practice Event on Entrepreneurial Universities

Our 2014 Entrepreneurial Universities Event brought together 158 academics and professionals from over 30 countries, bent on driving change towards becoming more innovation-oriented, engaged and entrepreneurial, within their university, research institution, intermediary, or in government.

2014 University-Industry Interaction Conference

From 23th to 25th of April 2014, the University Industry Innovation Network (UIIN) and the Catalan Association of Public Universities (ACUP) hosted the 2014 University-Industry Interaction Conference on "Challenges and solutions for fostering entrepreneurial universities and collaborative innovation" in Barcelona, Spain.

With 342 participants, the conference was the leading international discussion forum for academics, researchers, practitioners and business representatives on university-industry interaction, where theory and practice are equally emphasised in the programme. The programme consisted out of keynote presentations, track sessions, workshops and sight visits. During this three day conference high emphasis was placed on networking opportunities and creative space, as well as skill development workshops (executive education), delivered by EADA Business School, one of Europe’s leading Business Schools.

UIIN and Triple Helix Association Workshop on University-Business-Cooperation US/Europe Studies

On the 7th of July 2013, the University-Business Cooperation Workshop, run by the University Industry Innovation Network (UIIN), the Triple Helix Association and the Science-to-Business Marketing Research Centre has shone a spotlight on the topic of University-Business Cooperation (UBC). Around 45 workshop attendees heared from and discussed relevant issues in cooperation between universities and business including entrepreneurship, collaborative research, commercialisation of research and development (IP) results, collaborative curriculum development, mobility and lifelong learning.

2013 University-Industry Interaction Conference

From the 27th till 29th of May, the University Industry Innovation Network organised the University-Industry Interaction Conference in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. During this three day event, 338 participants, from 48 countries representing a wide variety of Higher Education Institutions and business came together in Amsterdam to discuss and share information on the current challenges and solutions in University-Industry Interaction. With keynote speakers such as Henry Etzkowitz (President of the Triple Helix Association), David Docherty (Chief Executive of NCUB) and John Bell (Vice President Philips Research), the conference brought together some of the key thought leaders on university-industry interaction.
