Strategic Investment into Collaboration: How to Make a Case to Your Leadership

30 September, 1:30pm - 3:00pm UTC | Business Group
Partnerships

Universities and companies increasingly recognise the value of collaboration, yet securing sustained investment often requires more than demonstrating successful partnerships. Leaders need a clear strategic case that shows how collaboration contributes to institutional priorities, long-term impact and organisational performance.

Making that case involves more than reporting outputs or individual success stories. It requires aligning collaboration with leadership priorities, communicating return on investment, evidencing impact and navigating competing demands for institutional resources. Different organisations are taking different approaches to securing commitment, funding and long-term support.

In this Business Group roundtable, we will explore how organisations are building the case for strategic investment in collaboration. The discussion will focus on practical approaches for engaging leadership, demonstrating value, securing resources and embedding collaboration as a long-term institutional priority.

Aim

Securing investment in university-industry collaboration requires more than recognising its value – it requires building a compelling case that resonates with institutional leaders and strategic decision-makers.

This invite-only Business Group roundtable brings together senior professionals to exchange practical experiences on how to secure leadership commitment, resources, and long-term support for collaboration activities. Participants will discuss how to demonstrate impact, align collaboration with organisational priorities, communicate return on investment, and navigate the challenges of competing institutional demands.

Through an interactive peer discussion, members will share successful approaches, lessons learned, and practical examples of advocating for collaboration within their organisations. The session is designed as a space for open conversation, allowing participants to explore common challenges and learn from the experiences of peers across the global UIIN community.

Who should attend

This is an invite-only session exclusively for members of the UIIN Business Group.
